How can the poor lubrication of starter bearings be improved ?
Starter bearings (commonly known as copper sleeves) often have loose shaft journals and copper sleeves due to over wear during the normal use, which ultimately affects the performance of the starter. There are two main reasons for the easy wear of the starter's copper sleeve: one is that the load is large, which is an unchangeable reality; the other is poor lubrication, which can be improved.
Usually, lubricate the starter's copper sleeve and armature shaft journal during decomposition and maintenance. Apply some grease. The starter is generally unable to perform undisintegrated lubrication in normal use.

When the starter is working, the outer surface of the journal is contact with the inner four sides of the copper sleeve, and part of the grease is squeezed out of the friction surface, which accelerates the consumption of grease and causes dry friction between the journal and the copper sleeve when the starter is working, which cuase severe wear for both of them . To this end, the test turned two oil grooves with a depth of about 0.8 mm and a width of about 1.5 mm on the inner circular surface of the copper sleeve. After the starter was overhauled, the grooves were filled with grease and installed. After operation inspection, it not only achieves the purpose of long-term lubrication, but also reduces the wear of the journal and the copper sleeve.
