2026 July 5th Week Marginal News Recommendation - Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corp. Boosts Efficiency, Power Density in Motors and Generators

Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corp. introduced the next generation of high-efficiency electric machines with its Arnon non-grain oriented electrical steel (NGOES). Engineered for ultra-thin lamination and precision finish, Arnon helps manufacturers design smaller, lighter and more energy-efficient motors, generators and transformers, reducing core losses and improving performance at high speeds and frequencies. With available thicknesses of 0.004 in., 0.005 in., and 0.007 in. (0.102 mm, 0.127 mm and 0.178 mm), Arnon represents a significant reduction from typical NGOES materials ranging from 0.30 to 0.47 mm. The company said thinner laminations reduce eddy current losses, minimizing heat buildup and enabling higher efficiency — especially in high-speed and high-frequency applications above 400 Hz and switching frequencies over 1 kHz. Arnon’s low coercivity is 8-15 percent lower than alternative NGOES products, cutting hysteresis losses and improving total core efficiency. Motors built with Arnon have achieved efficiencies exceeding 98 percent, demonstrating measurable performance gains in demanding applications. Arnon NGOES proves particularly advantageous in higher frequency motors and generators above 400 HZ. The thinner material offsets effects created by increased eddy currents and subsequent heat buildup. Thin laminations built with Arnon produce a more efficient unit and free up design constraints. Arnon laminations also lead the industry for switching frequencies above 1K Hz. Arnon can lower core loss by up to 50 percent when compared to other NGOES, the company said. Arnold has further advanced Arnon NGOES with its new MAP coating, an eco-friendly, water-based insulation that maintains low interlaminar losses at elevated frequencies. This sustainable coating system supports both high-performance and environmental design goals, helping manufacturers meet increasingly stringent energy efficiency standards.
